Time Period Mandates

The division’s main responsibilities changed along with the changing historical landscape. During the "Association for International Relations" period, the main responsibilities were: 1. To provide reference materials and opinions on strategic decisions 2. To advance reports and suggestions on China Intelligence research 3. To utilize results from China Intelligence to promote camaraderie and gather support from the international community. During the "Institute of International Relations" period, aside from carrying out the abovementioned responsibilities, the division also strengthened international academic exchanges, supported training of Chinese Communist Party research scholars, and compiled the publication "Chinese Communist who’s who", which received widespread praise from the international academic community. During the "Center for International Relations" period, aside from improving Chinese Communist research and adhering to the needs of the Center as well as the University, the division also supported academic learning. Furthermore, the division also strengthened academic exchanges with Chinese research institutions and universities through academic visits, and centralized production of collective research as well as grassroots research. To strengthen Hong Kong and Macau research, the division also edited the "Hong Kong and Macau Monthly" and relevant academic works such as the "Cross-Strait Relations After the CCP's 16th Party Congress". In brief, the division's developed through undertaking responsibilities dictated by the time period it was situated in, and by positioning itself as a national think tank and academic exchange research. In recent years, the division has been inviting young research scholars with international experience to join the research division, which allows the division to do more thorough and accurate research and forecasts.
