International Cooperation

•The division is also launching international academic cooperation. Research fellows of the division are highly internationalized. They have undertaken long and short-term research at US Brookings Institute, Georgetown University, and Monterey Institute of International Studies that have increased their contacts with scholars doing research on US-China-Taiwan or US-China policies as well as arms control policies. At the same time, it has also increased their understanding of US policies towards Asia and arms control policies. This works to the advantage of the division especially when inviting American academic scholars to conduct academic exchanges. •For example, the division will invite Harvard University Department of Government's Professor Alastair Iain Johnston to hold a seminar discussing the theoretical development of the research done by proponents of US Strategic Culture and Socialization of International Regime. The aim of the seminar is for the division's research fellows to understand the development of international relations theory and to combine this with China's security policy research.
