Measurement of Internationalization

•The University encourages internationalization of its professors, and the division’s research fellows conform to this by continuously submitting articles to international academic journals. Research findings of the division’s research fellows have been published in internationally renowned academic journals such as The China Quarterly, The Non-Proliferation Review, and Brookings Institution Policy Series. •The division’s research fellows have also been a part of the editorial board for international journals and periodicals such as Issues and Studies and Provincial China. •The division’s research fellows actively participate in international academic groups such as coordination meetings of American Political Science Association’s Taiwan Studies Group. The division’s research fellows have also organized international academic conferences. For example, in April 1990, they organized an international conference on “Cross-Strait Relations Development”. In January 1991, they organized an international conference on “Hong Kong’s Economic and Trade Situation and Prospects”, and in June 1995 they organized an international conference on “Trends in Hong Kong Before and After 97 and Taiwan-Hong Kong Relations”, among others. •Another measurement index for the internationalization of the division was its level of media exposure. International media groups such as BBC, Washington Post, LA Times, Far Eastern Economic Review, Chicago Tribune, VOA, Free Radio Asia, CNN, South Morning China Post, ICRT, Reuter, and AFP frequently interviewed the division’s research fellows. This increased the international recognition level of the division’s research fellows, and serves as a measure of achievement for the division’s academic research endeavors.
