Institute of International Relations (IIR) was founded on April 1, 1953, under the name of “Association for International Relations.” This entity acted as Taiwan’s (ROC) leading international relations think tank, producing regular reports on international relations and Chinese Communist affairs that informed government policy. In 1961, it was renamed as “Graduate Institute of International Relations, ROC,” promoting domestic and international academic research talent training and institutional collaboration. In 1975, it was reorganized into “Institute of International Relations,” expanding its organizational scale and staff to further enhance research on international affairs and Mainland China. In 1996, IIR was incorporated into National Chengchi University (NCCU) as a university-level research center.
